Specialties & Treatment Philosophies

1

Mood Disorders

Dr. Padilla has experience in treating a full spectrum of psychiatric conditions, including but not limited to mood disorders, such as severe major depression, disruptive mood dysregulation and bipolar and thought disorders across the entire schizophrenia spectrum.  Click here to see a complete list of what we treat.

2

ADHD

Treating patients of all ages and life stages, Dr. Padilla has a special interest in the treatment of ADHD. His research on nonpharmaceutical interventions for ADHD was published in the Journal of the American Psychiatric Nurse Association (2018). At Radiant Path Psychiatry, we pride ourselves on a wholistic approach to all treatments, but especially ADHD. This approach considers the entire structure or makeup of a person - body, mind, spirit, and social factors - to determine the most appropriate treatment modalities. When that treatment plan involves medication, we work hard to customize each patient's unique path to healing.

3

Medication Management

Are you already working with a great therapist?  We are happy to partner with your therapy team to optimize the benefits of counseling and medications. We take a “start low and go slow” approach to medications, paying special attention to medication potency and potential interactions with other medications you may be taking. We also believe “knowledge is power,” and we spend significant time on education and explanation so that you fully understand our recommendations and are fully comfortable with your treatment plan. We don’t believe that medications alone can make you happy, but we do believe that medications can help empower you to find your path to wellness and peace.

Controlled substances like stimulants and benzodiazepines are prescribed in this practice with DEA guidelines.

4

Substance Abuse

In addition to treating mental illness, our team has extensive experience in the treatment of substance use disorders and patients with co-occurring substance use and mental illness, including, when medically indicated, the use of medications to help our patients achieve and maintain sobriety. We treat the entire substance use spectrum, including heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, alcohol, and cannabis use. Dr. Padilla also has experience treating conditions that are rooted in addiction, such as gambling and pornography addiction.
